Commiserations to the girls minor footballers who relinquished their minor A county title last Sunday when they were beaten by St Nathy's in the final by 2-12 to 0-2. This was a more competitive contest than the scoreline suggest but there was no doubting Nathy's superiority on the day. It was one of those matches when little went right for the team but the players battled gamely throughout. 12 of this current side will be minor again next year so there is plenty of cause for optimism. Several of the girls will now now regroup for the club's U16 championship game away to Eastern Harps this Tuesday evening. The U16s need to win their remaining two round robin games against Harps and Tourlestrane to secure a place in the county final.
It's a big week for our girls U14 footballers too as they play Shamrock Gaels in a championship play-off on Friday evening at 6:15pm.
Good luck to all our club members who receive their Junior Cert results this Wednesday.
Well done to the boys U11 footballers who beat neighbours St Molaise Gaels in their opening City League game at Scarden last Wednesday evening. The U13s are away to Shamrock Gaels in their opening Féile League game on Tuesday evening at 6:30pm.
Another club team preparing for a county final are the U14 hurlers who play Easkey/St Farnan's at Markievicz Park this Thursday evening at 6:15pm. The lads have produced some impressive displays en route to this decider, and have already represented the club with distinction during Féile earlier this year. We wish the players and management every success on Thursday. The following evening, the boys minor footballers host Ballymote at Oxfield in the semi-final of the Shield Championship, also at 6:15pm.
The club draw for two Mayo v Dublin tickets is this Thursday evening in Davis's Restaurant for two All-Ireland football final tickets. Draw tickets cost €5 each or 3 for €10 and are available from any club officer.
