Giblin expecting tight affair

Curry manager Kevin Giblin believes that their quarterfinal meeting with Coolera/Strandhill will be a close encounter.

Giblin is expecting a classic match, despite last year's finalists going in as red hot favourites.

Coolera/Strandhill have not been helped by the fact that they have lost 13 players since last year, but Giblin stressed to the Sligo Champion that their opponents will still pose a threat this Saturday evening at Markievicz Park.

"We're glad to be in the quarterfinal," said Giblin. "After losing the first game to Coolaney/Mullinabreena we were under pressure so to go through was a relief. We didn't have a great league but we managed to stay up."

He added: "I think they would be happy to get us as we are happy to get them. There will be no fear between the teams.

"I don't think we ever beat Coolera/Strandhill in my playing days, so they are always a tough team and that's another incentive for us to win."
