Indoor Astro Turf complex given the go-ahead

It was a historic week for the club after Thursday night's meeting ratified the construction of an indoor astro turf complex at our grounds in Quigabar. This terrific facility will also incorporate a gym, kitchen and toilet facilities. Having got the formal approval of club members, construction is set to start in the coming months, and the club will be embarking on a fundraising campaign to help fund the project over the next year. This is a landmark decision for the club and one which will harbour a new, modern era in the long history of GAA in the parish. It will provide a top-class facility for all of our teams, and will help develop better footballers for the club in the long run. We sincerely hope everyone will row in behind the project and make it the success it promises to be. More information will follow in the coming weeks.

Intermediate

Our intermediate team secured an important two points in Division Two last Saturday evening with an impressive 4-12 to 0-9 win over Owenmore Gaels at Quigabar. This was a relatively good display, with Brian Coleman bagging a hat-trick and Tom Mahon also raising a green flag. The team have a break next weekend; St Patrick's are the opposition on May 15th in round seven.

Minor

The minor boys take on St John's next Friday evening at 7pm in Stenson Park in the third round of the league.

U-16

Commiserations to our U-16 team who lost to Calry/St Joseph's last week. Nonetheless, they are still in contention for a final spot. Their next game is away to St Molaise Gaels next Monday week.

U-14

This Thursday evening, our U-14 boys host St Farnan's at 7pm.

U-12

Commiserations to our U-12s who lost to Owenmore Gaels last Tuesday evening. They play Easkey in the next round on Tuesday week.

U-6/U-8/U-10

Our youngest cohort of players continue their training and matches on Wednesday evenings. Numbers have been great so far at every age and all players have shown great improvement so far. Keep it up!

Connacht Junior Championship

Sligo play Mayo in the Connacht Junior Championship next Wednesday evening at 7.30pm in Quigabar. Best wishes to our own Brian Coleman and Mark O'Dowd, both of whom are involved with the Sligo set-up. Please support.

Child Protection Course

The club will be holding a child protection course on the 23rd of May. All coaches are required to complete this course. Further details will be available in the coming weeks.

Blotto

There was no winner of last weekend's blotto jackpot. Next week's jackpot will be €3500. Thank you for your continued support.

Boeing 767 arrival

As we all know, this Friday is the proposed arrival date for the Boeing 767 plane to Enniscrone for use at the glamping site at the bottom of the village. This is a world-first and a mammoth task, so the club wishes David McGowan and everyone involved the best of luck with the move. It has put Enniscrone on the world map and large crowds are expected locally for the arrival next Friday all going well.
