Drumcliffe Rosses Point GAA Club Notes

April 20, 2015

The senior men's team recorded their second win of their Furey's Coaches SFL Div 1 campaign with an 0-11 to 0-10 win against St Molaise Gaels in Grange on Sunday. Both sides served up a very entertaining contest with Niall Collery kicking the winning score in added time. We wish Stephen Regan, who sustained a leg injury in the game, a speedy recovery. The victory takes us top of the Div 1 table with six points from four matches. It's early days though. Next up: Coolera/Strandhill visit Oxfield this Sunday afternoon.

Our Intermediate ladies travelled to Croghan last Thursday evening to play St Ciaran's Athleague in the second round of the Connacht league. We were well beaten by a very strong and impressive St Ciaran's, who were themselves beaten All-Ireland Junior club finalists last year. However, the girls regrouped in fine style on Sunday and beat Tourlestrane in the 3rd round of the Spring Cup. This was a great team effort with some impressive football played over the hour. The team was: Rachel Oates, Joan Brennan, Shirley Nicholson, Orlaith Furey(capt), Michelle McNamara, Aimee Oates, Denise Regan, Ciara Redmond (0-2), Sinead Regan, Sinead Ní Bhrion (1-2), Amanda Healy (2-3), Roisin Healy (0-7), Keeley Greene(0-3).

Best of luck to the Sligo ladies senior county team who play Leitrim in the National League Division 3 semi-final this weekend.

Well done to the DRP Under-12 hurlers who contested the Connacht Suck Valley League semi-finals in Ballyhaunis on Saturday. They didn't win but played two games, gained invaluable experience and represented the club with distinction.

Our U8 and U10 footballers took part in the midweek blitz in Grange last Wednesday. A special word of thanks all the players and their  parents for the support on the evening. Thanks also to St Molaise Gaels for hosting and organising the event.

Our Minor team play Calry/St Josephs this evening (Tuesday) in the league at 7pm in Oxfield.

The club extends deepest condolences to Jacinta Monaghan and the McGowan family following the death of John McGowan last weekend.

Our monthly meeting for April takes place this Monday evening (20th) in Oxfield at the later time of 9pm.

The club's monthly newsletter for April has been deferred until this Wednesday 22nd. It will be emailed to all club members at lunchtime on Wednesday. You can subscribe to receive it via the drp.gaa.ie website.
