Drumcliffe Rosses Point GAA Club Notes

April 07, 2015

Ladies begin with a win

Our ladies intermediate team opened their league campaign with a spirited draw (3-16 to 6-7) v Eoghan Rua on Sunday. There were strong performances from Michelle McNamara, Rachel Monaghan & Tracy O'Boyle. The club is proud to have our ladies playing at adult level again after being absent from the playing field last year. Well done to manager Mike Healy in preparing the side.

Hurlers at Croker
The club's U12 hurlers took part in the Connacht GAA Go Games club activity day in Croke Park last Tuesday. They played three matches on the hallowed turf: against Tooreen Blue (Mayo), Tubbercurry (Sligo) and St. Domnicks (Roscommon), as also got a tour of the GAA Museum and Stadium. The panel of 17 players all played some brilliant hurling, with two convincing wins and a hard fought draw. A big thanks to all the coaches and parents who travelled with the team. Well done to all the kids who were a credit to their club and their parents.

GAA Nursery

After a short Easter break, the GAA nursery resumes this Saturday with a change of venue. We're holding our Nursery this week at Scoil Réalt na Mara in Rosses Point (instead of Oxfield) this Saturday. All sessions will be outdoors. U6 training begins at 9.45am. U8 and U10 at 10:30. We'd like to extend our sincere appreciation to the staff of National School in Rosses Point for making their pitch facilities available to the club.

U14s
Well done to the boys U14 footballers who won their opening league game against St Farnan's last Wednesday.

Minors win again

It was another good weekend for the Sligo county minor team. They beat Longford in the Connacht Minor League by 2014 to 0-9. The club is represented on the panel by Cian Lally and Sean Power.

Condolences

The club extends deepest condolences to the Holland family following the death of Tom Holland. Sympathies also to Jim Patterson, following the passing of his sister Betty Henry recently.
