Something's Cooking for Paddy's Day

The club's Annual Family Hot Pot event is all set to go this St Patrick's Day in Harry's, Rosses Point from 3pm. It's the ideal solution for feeding tired families after the Parade celebrations in town. In addition to the hot meal, there'll be music and spot prizes. Admission is €5 for children, €10 for adults or there's a family ticket of just €25. The MS Therapy Centre is the chosen charity partner for this event. It'll be a great way to round off your St Patrick's Day celebrations. All welcome.

College Blues
Commiserations for the Summerhill College team which lost last Saturday's Connacht final to Roscommon CBS by a single point. The club was represented on the panel by the following players: Sean Power, Cian Lally, Colin Feeney, Ros Hickey, Aaron McCormack and Nessan Leydon. The College can still be proud of its achievements having won the league title earlier this year.

Here come the Girls!
Our Intermediate ladies are back following a year without a team at this level. We played Eastern Harps in Oxfield on Saturday afternoon and put in a superb performance despite losing by four points. This is a very young team for this level but the girls played some excellent football all over the field and held our own right up to the last ten minutes.  Training continues every Sunday afternoon from 3pm to 4.15pm in Oxfield.

Sligo Ladies
Well done to Rachel Monaghan and Orla McGowan (cousins), both part of the Sligo senior Ladies team which beat Leitrim in Ballinamore on Sunday on a final score of 1-11 to 0-7. A mention too for Emma Healy who is also on the senior county panel.

Major minors

Congrats to the Sligo county minor team who beat defending champions Letirim by a point in the Connacht Minor League last Friday. An encouraging start for Aidan Rooney's team despite being without a number of players because of college commitments.

Lovely Hurling
Well done to a very young U12 hurling team, which fielded eight U10 players and still managed a comprehensive victory over Easkey in the Connacht U12 Suck Valley league on Saturday.  Moment of the match was a fantastic save by goalkeeper Donncha O'Brien. There was also a great first match by birthday boy Conor White. This was the club's first victory against Easkey at any level in hurling and will help the team for their forthcoming matches against St Mary's Carrick-on-Shannon and Glencar/Manorhamilton over the next two Saturdays at 2pm in Oxfield. Training for all hurlers continues this Wednesday evening from 5.30 to 6.30.

Poetry in Motion
Good luck to Martin Cullen from Cloneen Line, who'll represent the club in the Connacht finals of Scór at the end of the month in recitation.

GAA Nursery
The club's GAA nursery continues every Saturday morning in Oxfield. Don't worry if you missed the first few sessions, new players are very welcome at any stage. U6 training starts at 9.45am sharp (indoors). U8 & U10 at 10:30am.

Pitch update
Team managers and coaches are reminded that the main playing pitch in Oxfield is closed to training for the time being to allow essential repair and maintenance. Mentors should bear this in mind when making online bookings for training on the club website drp.gaa.ie.

Health is the Wealth
The GAA's National Health & Wellbeing Conference takes place this Saturday 21st in Croke Park. Any club members who wish to attend can register on www.gaa.ie/community
