Drumcliffe Rosses Point GAA Club Notes

February 16, 2015

The senior team opened their Kiernan Cup campaign with a 2-13 to 1-3 defeat at home to St Molaise Gaels on Sunday. The visitors were clearly the sharper outfit on the day but DRP were without several regulars because of injury, college and county commitments. The attention this weekend turns to the start of the Fureys Coaches Senior League Division 1 when we welcome Bunninadden to Oxifeld on Sunday afternoon.

Our U16 boys commenced training last Saturday at 3.30pm in Oxfield.  There was an excellent turn-out and John McGowan ran an enjoyable training session.  The next training is on Friday evening from 7pm - 8:15pm.  All players born in 1999, 2000 and 2001 are asked to attend.  New players are always welcome.  The first league game is scheduled for St Patrick's weekend.

The U14 boys held their first training session on Sunday afternoon in Oxfield under the 2015 management team of Jimmy Smith, Sean Carroll and Tommy Kelly.  There was a great attendance despite the poor weather conditions.  The next training for the U14 boys is on Sunday at 4pm in Oxfield.  All players born in 2001, 2002 and 2003 are asked to attend.  Any player unable to attend is asked to contact Jimmy Smith.

A reminder that registration for club membership takes place in Oxfield this Saturday morning (21st) from 10am to 1pm. There will be a second registration session in Rosses Point on Wednesday 25th from 7pm to 8.30pm in Scoil Réalt na Mara. Newcomers are particularly welcome.

Saturday morning Gaelic football coaching for kids ages 5 to 10 years resumes in Oxfield on Saturday, February 28th.

This is an ideal opportunity for kids to develop their skills, improve their physical fitness and enhance friendships. It's also a great opportunity for parents to meet others from the local community. As always, new children are very welcome.

Timings: U6 - 9.45am to 10.30am, U8 & U10 - 10:30am to 11.45am.
