Finishing disappoints Breheny

October 15, 2014

St Mary's manager Tommy Breheny admits that poor finishing cost them dearly in last Sunday's county SFC final.

Newly crowned champions Tubbercurry got their goals at the right time, while St Mary's failed to hit the back of the net during the decider.

And Breheny stressed to the Sligo Champion that if you don't take your chances it will prove costly as this was the case at Markievicz Park last weekend.

"We had a lot of possession and chances in the first half. We kicked a lot of chances into the goalies' hands. They finished the first half very strongly, they had a good dominant spell and went in a point ahead at half time," said Breheny.

"Goals win games, and we had goal chances, but didn't finish them off. We were finishing them off up to now. That was my worry on the day when it really mattered, would we do it?"
