Sligo manager Pat Flanagan admits that he has mixed emotions following their survival in Division Three.

The former Westmeath manager was obviously elated that the side managed to beat the drop following last weekend's win over Longford, but he admitted that there was an air of disappointment that they were not pushing for promotion in the campaign.

The Connacht side produced one of their best displays of the campaign so far when defeating Longford last weekend and it was a bittersweet moment for Flanagan.

"I'm happy in so far as we've retained our Division Three status, but I'm disappointed that we didn't do a little bit better," Flanagan admitted to the Sligo Champion.

"I felt we could have got something from the games against Fermanagh, Cavan and Wexford. If we had we might have been in the promotion shake up.

"Having said that, we were about ten weeks behind most teams in terms of preparing for the league so, all in all, it was a satisfactory campaign."
