Walsh decision weeks away

Galway manager Kevin Walsh
It could be weeks before Kevin Walsh's future as Sligo manager is resolved.

There have been no discussions between the Galway man and the County Board since the Yeats men exited the championship at the hands of Kildare last month and chairman Cyril Feehily confirms in The Examiner:

"We haven't met with Kevin Walsh and his selectors yet, but at this time of the year a lot of people are on holidays and are a taking a break after being involved in team-management duties.

"However, I expect we will be meeting with Kevin and his selectors within the next few weeks, as well as with the county U21 and minor team managers, Anthony Brennan and Tommy Brehony.

"As of now, we don't know what the intentions of Kevin and his selectors are for next year. Maybe they're interested in continuing for another term or maybe they're not."

Paul Durcan, who serves as a selector alongside Dessie Sloyan and Paul Taylor, says: "We haven't been together since the Kildare game, so we'll need to sit down, have a discussion about this year and decide for ourselves what we want to do for next year. I'd say we'll probably do this within the next two weeks."
