Sligo woman helps Tipp's cause

Sligo have a strong argument for supporting Tipperary in last Sunday's All-Ireland SHC final as the Premier County's performance coach hails from Grange.

Caroline Currid is well known throughout GAA circles having helped Tyrone to All-Ireland success in 2008 and for the past two years, she has worked with Tipperary.

The Premier County put the heartache of last year's All-Ireland defeat well and truly behind them when they stopped Kilkenny from winning an unprecedented five-in-a-row this year.

"Sometimes, management and players learn more from defeat than from victories and this was certainly the case for Tipperary," said Caroline.

"The defeat to Cork in this year's championship was a wake up call for everybody and the players determined after that they were going to give whatever it took to try to win the All-Ireland."
