Drumcliffe/Rosses Point club notes

August 08, 2019

Our senior men’s footballers continue their Belfry senior football championship Group 2 campaign this Saturday evening (Aug 10th) when they take on Calry/St Joseph’s at Kent Park. Throw-in: 7:15pm.

Our women’s intermediate footballers are going very well in the championship. They resume their Connacht Gold championship campaign this Sunday morning when they take on CT Gaels in their final round robin game at 10:30am. DRP are already assured of a place in this year’s county final. They await the winners of the Owenmore Gaels-St Michael’s game which also takes place this Sunday.

Well done to the five DRP players who were part of the Sligo women’s county panel which beat Offaly last Sunday in Kinnegad to reach the All-Ireland intermediate football semi-finals. Sinead Regan, Michelle McNamara, Rachel Monaghan, Rachel Quigley and Oda Carty are part of the Sligo set-up. The girls now play Tipperary in the semi-final in Nowlan Park Kilkenny on Saturday Aug 17th at 3pm.

Big congrats to Benbulben Gaels under 16 hurlers who lifted the county league title on Tuesday evening after an impressive 6-10 to 5-4 win against Western Gaels.

Well done to Thomas O’Brien who played for ‘Tipperary’ in the half-time exhibition game at Croke Park during the recent All-Ireland hurling semis-final between Tipp and Wexford.

Our boys under 14 footballers were well beaten by an impressive St Mary’s team in the championship at Oxfield last Monday. This is a coming team however, and it was great to see Diarmuid Dunleavy captaining the team on the evening. The team play St Molaise Gaels in Grange this Friday evening at 7pm.

The girls under 16 footballers recorded a comprehensive 4-16 to 3-2 win against St Molaise Gaels last week.

The boys under 16 footballers play St Molaise Gaels in the championship at Oxfield next Monday evening (12th) at 7pm.

Our boys minor footballers have two big games coming up in the next few days. They play St Mary’s in the ‘B’ championship this Thursday evening in Oxfield at 7pm - then host Tourlestrane next Tuesday evening at the same venue.

Our girls under 14 footballers continue their championship campaign against Tourlestrane next Monday evening in Oxfield at 7pm.
