This was a very tight game with sides level at the break at 8 points each after being level on six different occasions during the opening half and then in the second half in the opening minutes of the half St. Kieran’s scored two goals and two points within the 5 minutes of the half with both goals coming from Liam Kennedy to leave eight points between the sides and then both sides exchanged points and then Sean McSweeney scored a point to leave nine points between and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next 4 points without reply from St. Kieran’s and then John Hayes scored the next point for St. Kieran’s to leave six points and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next 1-3 with the goal coming from Kevin Noonan and the points all coming from Derry McCarthy to bring sides back on level for the seventh time during the game and then St. Kieran’ s scored the winning point in injury time coming from Diarmuid Mulcahy.  This was our third game in the game with Galbally and Na Pairsaigh left to play in the group stages and the table reads as follows, Newcastle West 6 points, St. Kieran’s 4 points, Na Pairsaigh 2 points, Dromcollogher/ Broadford and Galbally no points.

Noel Callanan of St. Kieran’s and Derry McCarthy exchanged points early in the opening minutes of the game and then St. Kieran’s scored the next two points and these points came from Séan McSweeney and Noel Callanan to give them a lead of two points.  Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next point coming from Derry McCarthy to leave a point between the sides and then Séan McSweeney of St. Kieran’s and Derry McCarthy exchanged pointed frees to leave a point between the sides. Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next two points and these points came from Derry McCarthy pointed free and John O’Gorman from play to give us a lead of a point and then St. Kieran’s scored the next two points and these points came from Ray Cahill and Séan McSweeney to give them a lead of a point.  Cillian Fahy of Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next point of the game to bring sides back on level sides for the fourth time and then Séan McSweeney of St. Kieran’s and Cillian Fahy exchanged pointed frees to stay on level terms for the fifth time during the game. Kevin Meade of St. Kieran’s and Cillian Fahy of Dromcollogher/ Broadford exchanged points to stay on level terms once again for the sixth time during the game. To leave the score at half-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-8 to St. Kieran’s 0-8.

St. Kieran’s scored the first 2-2 of the second half with 35 minutes gone in the game to lead by eight points with the goals coming from Kevin Kennedy and the points coming from Noel Callanan and Anthony Molyneaux and then Derry McCarthy of Dromcollogher/ Broadford and Kevin Kennedy exchanged points to leave eight points between the sides again.  Séan McSweeney scored the next pointed free for St. Kieran’s to leave nine points between the sides and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next four points to leave five points between the sides with two of these points coming from Derry McCarthy one from a free and the from play and the other points came from Jack Ryan and Gerard O’Gorman.  John Hayes of St. Kieran’s scored the next point to leave six points between the sides and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the 1-3 of the game with the goal coming from Kevin Noonan in the 54th minute of the game and all the points came from Derry McCarthy with one from a free and the other two from play to bring sides back on level terms for the seventh time during the game.  Diarmuid Mulcahy of St. Kieran’s scored the winning point of the during injury time of the game to give them victory by the point and give them four points of 6 points in the group stages.  To leave the score at full-time St. Kieran’s 2-14 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 1-16.

U12 Football Notes  

Cappagh was the venue on Thursday last for our U12 footballers.  Our boys played with a slight breeze in the first half it was a pleasure to watch the way they moved the ball at pace with them getting some great scores at the end move.  The boys put up a good score by half-time of 1-10 to Cappagh 1-03.  In the second half our boys continued to play some great football from our goalkeeper to our forwards This ended in our boys getting brilliant scores. The game finished on a scoreline of Dromcollogher/ Broadford 4-13 to Cappagh 1-03. This was one our best performances of the season. List of players were: D. O’Connell, B. Geary, D.J. Cussen, A. O’Dell, O. Broderick. S. O’Flynn, A. O’Kelly, R. Sheehan, J. Lenihan, S.  Egan, R. O’Dell, R. Jefferies, S. Browne, C. Burke and O. Stokes.

Results of the 348th draw took place on July 23nd, in The Corner House, Dromcollogher and the numbers drawn were: 1, 29, 31, 32 there was no winner of the jackpot was at €5,700 and there also was no winner of match three at €100 and the two lucky dips of €50 each were: Ann Browne, Broadford and Mai Nunan, Dromcollogher and the next draw took place on Monday last July 29th, in Neenan’s Bar, Broadford and the Jackpot was at €5,800 and the match three is stayed at €100.  Tickets are available from any committee member or any promoter at €2 each or 3 for €5.
