Sligo manager Paul Taylor admits that counties have to be realistic with themselves when it comes to a tiered championship.

Speaking to the Sligo Champion following the 3-11 to 0-07 defeat to Galway in the Connacht SFC semi-final, Taylor believes that there will be changes made to the structure of the championship.

The former Sligo forward added that every county wants to be able to compete with the big teams, but he stressed that there are five or six way ahead of the rest.

“I feel it’s around the corner (the changes),” said Taylor. We would all like to be up there with the big teams.

“But, at the moment, there’s five or six teams ahead of everyone else. But it’s difficult and it’s getting more difficult. I won’t say I’m in favour or against because I haven’t thought much about it.”
