Sligo open their competitive campaign this weekend as they take on Roscommon in the FBD League and their new manager Paul Taylor is looking forward to the start of the season.

Taylor was appointed as Sligo manager last September, but he has had to wait until this weekend for his first competitive match.

The former county star told the Sligo Champion that he has been impressed by the players’ attitude over the course of the last few months.

“We had a couple of challenge games before Christmas and we felt we were improving with every game,” said Taylor. “We played Donegal, Tipperary and Cavan and it was a good way for us to try new players as well.

“We have a good blend of youth and experience there and we are happy with how we have been improving but we still have a lot of work to do.”
