Defining weekend ahead

September 13, 2017

A fresh looking Hyde Park pitch from a distance.

A number of teams interest in their respective championships will come to an end this weekend.

Between hurling and football, there are six games down for decision as those involved look to remain active for another while at least.

On Saturday, the two SFC quarterfinals are scheduled to be played as Kiltoom hosts the meeting of Western Gaels and Clann na nGael at 8pm.

Western Gaels lost out to St Faithleach's last weekend and thus so allowed St Brigid's back into the championship, so Clann na nGael should have the momentum going into this clash.

In the other quarterfinal at Dr Hyde Park (6pm), Boyle take on Strokestown and both teams are in a confident mood heading into this clash, but it's Boyle who should just shade it.

Also on Saturday is the IFC quarterfinal between Tulsk Lord Edwards and St Dominics and this is the curtainraiser to the senior clash at the Hyde. Throw in at 4.15pm.

In hurling, Athleague will host the SHC replay between Oran and Padraig Pearses and the reigning champions will be hoping to get the job done this time around (5.30pm).

The action doesn't stop there as the JFC A quarterfinals are also on Saturday evening. Kilglass Gaels meet Roscommon Gaels at Tarmonbarry (6pm), while Western Gaels face neighbours Ballinameen in Kiltoom at 6.15pm.
