Championship action resumes

September 06, 2017

A fresh looking Hyde Park pitch from a distance.

There is plenty of action in store for football enthusiasts over the coming weekend.

Action will take place in the senior and intermediate football championships with 12 games down for decision and remarkably eleven of them involve high stakes.

Roscommon Gaels are already through to the semi-final and they take on a St Brigid's side keen to avoid losing a third consecutive game in the championship.

This is a must win game for the Kiltoom outfit and they will be the hungrier side as the Gaels are already through to the last four.

St Faithleach's go into their clash against Western Gaels needing a win, but they also need other results to go their way. For their opponents, a victory is needed to secure their place in the semi-final.

A win for Boyle over Padraig Pearses will see them into the quarterfinals, while the latter are already out of the championship.

It's a winner takes all in the clash between Clann na nGael and Elphin. A draw will do Clann, and this may well be the outcome in what should be a tight game.

A Strokestown win and they are in the quarterfinal, but they face an ever improving St Croan's side, while the dead rubber of the round is the meeting of Kilmore and Castlerea St Kevin's with the sides having to play again in the relegation play-off.
