Gary Sice reckons Frankie Dolan "embarrassed himself" with some of his comments before yesterday's Connacht club SFC final.

Sice posted 0-4 as Corofin finally gained revenge for their 2006 and 2011 final losses to St. Brigid's with an emphatic 2-13 to 0-5 victory in Carrick-on-Shannon. And he didn't let the opportunity pass without making his feelings about the St. Brigid's manager's comments known.

"If you told me at the start of the year that we would have beaten both Castlebar and Brigid's, we'd have taken that. It's just nice to perform on the big day," the Galway ace said in the Irish Daily Star.

"The red and green - that was enough. These guys have been hanging over us for a long time.

"There was an awful lot of talk in the papers. I think Frankie embarrassed himself when he said that it really didn't matter what we did, that they were better than us.

"I hope he's slightly quieter this evening going home than he was during the week. We didn't perform the last time in Kiltoom. Now they know what we're about."

Sice insists Corofin have room for improvement ahead of February's All-Ireland semi-final against Dr Crokes.

"We were good in patches today, but that's not going to beat whoever is next. We'll enjoy this evening and the next couple of weeks and then, maybe, understand that this won't be good enough the next day," he added.
