Roscommon will have new senior football champions this year after Clann na nGael were dethroned by Boyle this evening.

The holders failed to progress to the quarter-finals after suffering a 2-14 to 4-13 defeat. Boyle set the tempo from the off and led by 1-9 to 0-7 at half-time.

Former kingpins St. Brigid's are looking strong again after dishing out a 4-16 to 0-6 hammering to Castlerea. Today's other tie between Padraig Pearses and Roscommon Gaels ended in a 1-11 each draw after the town side had led by 1-7 to 0-5 at the break.
