Roscommon's clubs have agreed with a county Management Committee proposal to install a new playing pitch at Dr Hyde Park.

At the first County Board meeting of the year, chairman Seamus Sweeney outlined the Management Committee's proposal and informed delegates that he was satisfied that the financial support is in place to complete the project, which he referred to as the "2016 infrastructure project".

Treasurer Seamus Maher explained that the Management Committee were confident that they would be in a position to fund the project after receiving commitments from Croke Park.

Tenders will be sought for the work and the plan is to install the new pitch as soon as possible. Roscommon County Board also intends to reconstruct the spectator areas and add much-needed facilities for players, patrons and officials.
