The hosting of this year's Connacht finals boosted Roscommon GAA's finances by €40,000.

There were a few eyebrows raised when Dr Hyde Park was named as the venue for this year's provincial senior and minor football finals.

The Roscommon venue had been out of commission following the Slattery Report and there was remedial work needed on the grounds before it was considered for the finals.

Roscommon chairman Michael Fahey revealed that the monies received will go towards the further redevelopment work on the grounds.

Fahey also apologised for the failure to provide a hot meal to stewards on the day, a situation he stated was out of their control.
