Casey and CBS bid for glory

April 08, 2015

Roscommon CBS captain Jack Casey admits that leading the side out onto the Croke Park pitch will be surreal.

Casey will lead the side out against Pobailscoil Chorcha Dhuibhne this weekend in the All-Ireland Post Primary Senior A football final.

And he admitted to the Roscommon Herald that this was not only an honour for himself, but for his family and club Oran as well.

"It's going to be a really different experience. I've never played in a venue like it. Even the minors last year, we didn't get to Croke Park because we lost out in the All-Ireland quarterfinal," said Casey.

"I suppose it hasn't really hit me yet. But leading the boys out as captain will be a huge thing for me."

Casey will line out alongside his brother Shane which adds to the occasion. "Not too many brothers get to play on any team, let alone in an All-Ireland final in Croke Park. It will be surreal but a proud day for the family.

"Oran has done brilliant work over the last few years. The club has always provided a number of players to county teams. We have a lot of players on this year's Roscommon team."
