Huge turnover of managers in Roscommon

Just one of Roscommon's 12 senior football clubs - Roscommon Gaels - have retained their manager for 2015, and Shane Curran believes his club St. Brigid's are to blame!

The colourful goalkeeper, who helped Brigid's to the last five Roscommon SFC titles before announcing his retirement last month, reckons the Kiltoom outfit's dominance is driving their rivals to change managers more frequently in their quest to reach the same heights as the 2013 All-Ireland champions.

"I think a lot of clubs are finding it difficult to pinpoint people of the right calibre to fill their manager positions," Curran wrote in the Westmeath Independent this week.

"For some clubs, the process has been dragging on for quite some time. It seems to me that every club in Roscommon aspires to achieve what St. Brigid's have in recent years and that's to be admired.

"Clubs are looking to raise their own standards and we should never knock people for that."

Brigid's themselves will have a new manager next season - Paddy Carr - following Benny O'Brien's decision to step down after two years at the helm.
