Scór na nÓg Semi-finals showcase great talent

The Roscommon Scór na nÓg Championships served up two wonderful nights of entertainment in Lecarrow and Elphin recently, as talented young GAA members took to the stage for the pride of their clubs.

From St. Michaels in the north to Padraig Pearses in the south of the county, a great spread of clubs did battle in order in impress the judges and win their parish a coveted place at the County Final in the Dean Crowe Theatre Athlone. The following groups and individuals will now contest this year's final:

Figure Dancing: St. Croans B, Kilglass Gaels, St. Dominics A, St. Dominics B
Solo Singing: Sarah Keane (Elphin), Dearbhla McCormack (St. Dominics), Aoife McLaughlin (Kilbride), Patrick Mulloolly (St. Dominics)
Instrumental Music: St. Michaels, Padraig Pearses, Kilbride, Roscommon Gaels
Recitation/Storytelling: Cormac Moore(Kilglass Gaels), Muireann O'Brien (St. Croans), Patrick Mulloolly (St. Dominics), Katie Heneghan (St. Aidans)
Ballad Group: Kilbride, St. Dominics A, St. Barrys, St. Dominics B
Question Time: St. Dominics A and B, Elphin, and Kilglass Gaels
Léiriú (Historic Presentation): St. Dominics A, B and C
Set Dancing: Kilmore, Elphin, St. Dominics A and B.

Coiste Scór Roscomaín would like to wish all of the competitors the very best in their preparations over the coming weeks. Well done is also extended to all of the young people who did not progress this year, we thank them for their efforts and hope to see them again. 

The County Final in the Dean Crowe Theatre Athlone will be held on December 14th commencing at 1pm.  This is an all-ticket affair and has been a sold out event for the past few years, so early booking is essential for those seeking tickets. Coiste Scór would like to thank the Elphin and St. Dominics clubs for hosting the semi final nights, Michéal Gunn and Noel Dervin our MC's, Josie Creamer for providing the sound and to the hall committees in both St. Johns and Lecarrow. A special word of credit must go to the Roscommon Gaels and Kilbride clubs who this year made an excellent return to Scór na nÓg participation, we hope this continues in the future.
