Pearses appeal thrown out

The Roscommon SFC final looks set to go ahead as planned on Sunday after an appeal by Padraig Pearses was rejected on Wednesday night.

The Woodmount-based club appealed the result of their controversial semi-final defat to St. Faithleach's to the Connacht Council's Hearing Committee, arguing that referee Michael Brehony wrongly disallowed a late equalising point. The match official had to be escorted from the field after the final whistle.

Pearses still have the option of taking their case to the DRA but, as things stand, Sunday's decider between five-in-a-row chasing St. Brigid's and St. Faithleach's is going ahead as scheduled at 3.30pm.
