Shannon Gaels club notes

September 15, 2014

Underage:
Our U6s, U8s and U10s were in action on Saturday in Leitrim Gaels, and had a good day of football thanks to our hosts Leitrim Gaels.
Our U12s were defeated by a good St Brigids team in Croghan on Sunday. Next
Saturday at 12pm in Tulsk our U12s will contest the Beirne shield Final
against Eire Og.
Glancys/Supervalu sponsored Kilmore/Shannon Gaels minor team defeated Roscommon Gaels on Friday evening last by 3-16 to 0-11.
Quiz:

Kilmore/Shannon Gaels amalgamated teams are holding a quiz on this Friday night 19th September in Glancys Waterfront Bar.  The Club would like for all parents, players and supporters to come and test your knowledge on the night.  All proceeds go to the amalgamated teams.  Adult table of 4 will be 40 euro and junior table of 6 is 30 euro.  There will also be a draw on the night for 2 All Ireland tickets.  Tickets are on sale now for the draw at 5 euro a line.  You can contact Tracey Duignan or Noel Feeney or check out Facebook, or our website for distributors.
Mens:
Congratulations to our mens junior team on reaching the County Final by defeating Ballinameen last Sunday. The two teams were evenly matched for most of the game but Shannon Gaels pulled away in the last 10 minutes of the game.  Final score S. Gaels 4-9 Ballinameen 1-12.  The club would like to thank the manager Sean Murtagh and his backroom team of Kieran Kilkenny, Shane Loftus, Robert Gillian and Clodagh Corrigan for all their great efforts with the team so far this year.
Lotto: Lotto results from draw in Dickie Beirnes on 13th September. Numbers drawn 1,10,12,,13.  Jackpot not won, 20 euro winners Tom Quinn Keadue, Mary McDermott Behy, Tess Murtagh Carrick, Shane Beirne Faus, Jackie Costello Croghan.  Next draw 2nd October in Croghan Bar.  Jackpot 2,350.
LADIES:
Our intermediate ladies were defeated by Eire Og in the intermediate championship semi final on Saturday evening. Having to line out without the influential Niamh O Beirne there was a void in the Gaels defence which Eire Og exploited in the opening half and lead by 13 points at the break. The introduction of Aisling O Hart inspired a Shannon Gaels comeback and they dominated long periods of the second half outscoring Eire Og in the last thirty mins. However a goal bound shot that came back off the crossbar and some poor shooting in from of goal denied them a place in the county final. Final score Eire Og 5-10 to Shannon Gaels 2-10. They will now play Boyle in the Intermediate shield final in October.
The Division 1 minor final - Shannon Gaels V Clann na Gael has been fixed for the week end of October 4th/5th.
