Senior semis down for decision

September 10, 2010
The semi-finals of the Shannonside FM Roscommon Senior Football Championship take place at Hyde Park this Sunday (September 12th).

The first encounter, throwing in at 2pm, sees St Brigid's take on St Faithleach's, while Castlerea St Kevin's meet Elphin at 3.30pm.

St Brigid's and Castlerea have farmed the senior crown over the past five years, with Brigid's winning three in a row between 2005 and 2007 before St Kevin's came out on top of the pile for the past two summers.

Faithleach's, meanwhile, came up short against Brigid's in two of those while Elphin, who haven't won a senior title since completing a three-in-a-row of their own in the 1950s, will be aiming for a first appearance in the senior decider in 24 years.

Meanwhile, the George Bannon Sports Intermediate Football Championship semi-finals are also down for decision, with St Ronan's taking on St Brigid's on Saturday evening and St Dominic's taking on Strokestown 24 hours later.
