The closure of GAA pitches and walking tracks this week, while completely understandable, has highlighted how important the facilities are to communities.
While GAA activities, including games, training and gyms were all closed on March 12, walking tracks around many pitches and access to grounds for a run, were still available in many clubs.
This week Croke Park instructed all clubs to fully close their grounds with gates locked around the country.
The loss of the facilities have been a blow to many at this challenging time.
However, we must all do out part in this current emergency and follow HSE and GAA guidelines fully.
Mad. 4 kids. Small enough back yard. Were do I go for a kick about with them? Cant even go walking roads either with 4. A stroll around the outside of the pitch on our own do no harm whatsoever

Disappointing decision to close all local @officialgaa parks and their walking paths...many elderly people find it a safe space to walk with plenty of room for #SocialDistancing. Open fields and spaces shut down when most needed...#COVID19 #GAA https://t.co/TEPQzfXAHM

Completely agree! Only option now is roads! We were doing no harm, practicing social distancing in a safe environment. @officialgaa #GAA #local

TweetIt would be great to keep them open but as we saw last weekend people are not observing social distance
