Early season competitions have come under a lot of scrutiny, but one man who is a fan of them is Roscommon manager Anthony Cunningham.
Last Sunday, the Rossies got their competitive campaign underway with a win over Sligo in the FBD Connacht League.
There have been calls for the likes of these early season provincial competitions to be scrapped, but Cunningham feels that they are invaluable to preparation for the year ahead.
“We’re delighted to play in the FBD League because it gives us matches and a chance to see other players. It’s about getting back on the road,” said Cunningham.
“We’d be happy with the performance. But it was a typical early season performance. There’s loads to improve on and we won’t be found wanting for areas to improve on after the Sligo game. That’s for sure.”
