Former London manager Paul Coggins has thrown his hat in the ring for a return to the role he held for five years.

The Roscommon native stepped down in 2015, having guided the Exiles to the 2013 Connacht SFC final and was replaced by Ciaran Deely who had been part of Coggins’ management team in his last year as manager.

Deely was informed by the London County Board in recent weeks that his services were no longer required.

Immediately, Coggins was installed as favourite to return to the position and the current Tir Chonaill Gaels boss admitted to the Irish Post that he would certainly consider a return.

“I haven’t spoken to anybody about the role and I’m happy with the job I’m doing. But I enjoyed my time with London. If they contacted me, I would listen,” stated Coggins.

“I would have to seriously consider it. I’m not sure how I would balance that job and current commitments, but it would be worth having that conversation.

“Getting to the Connacht final in 2013 was huge for everyone involved in London GAA. That was a special time and a special group of players. We proved plenty of people wrong that year and I believe the current group have enormous potential as well.

Meanwhile, other names linked to the position include former Leitrim manager Barney Breen, ex-Down footballer Greg McCartan, Joe Coulter and Michael Maher.
