CBS Roscommon certainly have cause for celebration after a magnificent haul of four Connacht titles and one All Ireland title ensured that the Roscommon town school have a rather full trophy cabinet this summer.

Pride of place went to the Schools Senior Football team who captured the All Ireland Colleges B Final in March against a gallant Kerry side Pobalscoil Sliabh Luachra Rathmore by the narrowest of margins in Croke Park. Cue brilliant scenes of celebration when captain Ciaran Lawless lifted the Masita sponsored Paddy Drummond Cup under the Hogan Stand for the CBS who were managed by Roscommon Gaels clubman and teacher Eoghan Coll and former Carlow coach Sean Adamson and St Josephs clubman and school caretaker Ciaran Hughes.

Not to be outdone, the Juvenile B team lifted two Connacht titles in Connacht league and championship with victories against Claregalway College and HRC Mountbellew respectively. The team were managed by St Brigids clubman and teacher Simon Kelly and the aforementioned Adamson.

And things got better recently when the first year cubs beat a gallant St Attractas Tubbercurry Co Sligo side in the first year B final played in the excellent Centre of Excellence Bekan Co. Mayo. The team were guided to success by St Dominics clubman and teacher Noel Moran and PE teacher Eimhin Griffin and Sean Adamson once again.

All in all a magnificent year for the Roscommon town school and the Red and White army of fans who followed all the CBS school teams so faithfully this year.
