Offaly footballers 2012
Haven't been following the footballers lately, but recent results and performances would suggest that relegation beckons for us. 8 points scored today and just 4 against Kildare in the previous game is just not good enough.

Offaly seemed poor today. eight points is a poor score for 70 minutes. Were they missing many today.

Offaly and Leinster Senior titles
dont know why the footballers come back every yr..70 to 80% of them put in huge effort to try and bring some glory to the county and all they get is dogs abuse every year.they all have as much in pride in the jersey as the great players of the last 40 odd yrs but they havent the talent that those legends had.we are small county who will not be succesful or be able to compete yr in yr out.

Offaly and Leinster Senior titles
Well said Faithful. Offaly football is dire at present and there is no sign of it improving any time soon. Not to register a score against Kildare til 10 minutes in to the second half last sunday, is a disgrace in itself.
Though our minor footballers have performed in recent leinster campaigns, there doesn't seem to be any progress made with the senior teams.
The hurlers seem to have a better mentality about them and they always give us some hope. As for the footballers, it's going to be another short summer.

Yeah, a an Offaly man I worry about the future. Will we ever see good days again? Well, with the hurlers you can usually depend on commitment and effort been shown. They never get whipped any more, and in fairness aren't a million miles away (could have beaten the Dubs and Galway in recent years, but for a few dubious refereeing decisions). I think the hurlers would give anyone a rattle, barring Tipp and the Cats. The footballers are a damn disgrace, and have been for a number of years. I remember going to Portlaoise for a qualifier with Laois a few years ago, and they kicked four points that day too. Willie Bryan, Sean Lowry, Greg Hughes...these fellas busted their asses to make Offaly great. Never mind going back to the 1940s, I remember the late 80s and early 90s before Lyons came in - they were division 4 cannon fodder every year for the Meaths, Kildares, Dublins (even for our dear friends in Laois). Well, we're back at that again now as much as we like to pretend we're not. Where are Deehan and Reynolds, and James Coughlan? Weren't these lads always good for a couple of points? Anyway Trixy, to be honest, Gaelic football is gone into basketball now and you're maybe getting 10% decent games in the champo every year, what with the blanket defences and handpassing around like idiots...I'd prefer to go down to the field and watch primary school teams play, using a bit of footpassing and forward movement. Never mind Offaly, Gaelic football as we know it is getting progressively worse every year, and as an Irishman that is worrying because it was a beautiful sport when played right (look at the video of 1982 - pure football).

Offaly and Leinster Senior titles
Thank god for Coolderry at the club level and every good wish to them. Its hard to see a county Senior title in hurling or football at the moment. We are back now to the ratings we had in the 1940s, Where has it all gone wrong? We dont have a semblance of a "Leinster" in us at any level of football or hurling. Sad.
Does any one out there care any more?

Coolderry v Gort
Not sure what Coolderry's preparations are like but it is great to see that they have put in a great effort in this years club championship, considering that they exited tamely last year to the Westmeath champs. What is the story over there with Athenry. Have they fallen from grace altogether or are they rebuilding?

Coolderry v Gort
I agree with galway21 on Gort not being the best county champions in galway but by talks of their preparation for the match against Coolderry training is going well in some cases. All the panel returned to training last week for the first time after some injuries. Any talks on Coolderrys preparation anyone?

Offaly footballers 2012
Yes lads it was dire,a long journey for myself and a few buddies, just to get a bit of "middlan"air into the lungs for the new year. Terrible to see the lack of physique. Clearly the players are not and have not been following any kind of weights programme. I spoke with a former player of recent vintage in Tullamore on Sunday night. The plain fact is we cant have the same preparation as other counties cos we cant finance it ,and the county board clearly havent the acumen or drive to raise the funds. The players looked devoid of ideas or interest. WE JUST DONT PRODUCE THE INSPIRATIONAL TYPE PLAYER ANYMORE. We are far far far far and very far away from even a LEINSTER. Some naive people will say we are not far away after a decent performance against a big gun,for example the Down match of 2010. These oasis of success in the desert of dismal defeats are not really worth anything. The body language of the players last Sunday was sad to see, even though it was a long journey for us,we could only feel sorry for the players and our much loved and beloved county jersey

I hear that your team train in clara most nights so they obviously dont do weights etc not there anyway.yes kildare have a lot of big men out there now and offaly did look a bit light beside them. whats the story with manager he is away on volunteer duty a few weeks before the league? McGeeney has not stopped since the end of last years championship and all the lads havent either. I felt sorry for the offaly lads last sunday to not register a score in the first half that has to be a first for an offaly senior panel,I do hope things improve offaly have always been a great footballing force in leinster I hope that when cooney arrives back that he will get down to some serious training. good luck lads

Serious Trouble! And the size of Kildare in comparison to Offaly was unreal. Does our county team not get weights programmes or whats the story there? We just havent got the footballers by the looks of it simple as.

Offaly football has been incline for years but yesterday's performance beggars belief. To not register a score til 10 minutes into the 2nd half is shameful and embarrassing. I just hope the players try to put the result behind them and concentrate on a descent run in the league.
