U16 A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL

Like their U14 counterparts Na Fianna U16 Footballers relinquished their U16 Championship title as last year's winners also suffered defeat in this year's Semi Final to Ferbane / Belmont who claimed their place in the Final last Saturday afternoon in Durrow on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-08 and in doing so gained revenge for their defeat to Na Fianna in last year's final. Na Fianna playing with the strong breeze in the first half found themselves on the backfoot straight away as Ferbane opened the scoring with 1-02 without reply after just 5 mins. Over the remainder of the half Na Fianna recovered and at the break they trailed by 1-06 to 0-05. The first 10 mins of the second half saw both sides add 2 points apiece and this is how it remained until the final 10 mins when Ferbane wrapped it up with 1-02 to Na Fianna's 0-01. Throughout the game Na Fianna created more scoring opportunities but will rue their 12 wides to Ferbane's 3. Ferbane now go on to meet Tullamore in the Final.

NA FIANNA: David McElduff, David Carthy, Aaron Flanagan, Conor Owens, Dylan McDermott, Glen Hassett, Ryan Dunne, Emmett Curley (0-01), James Nolan, James Bryan, Lee Mulpeter (0-01), Mikey Buckley (0-02), Morgan Tynan (0-03), Mark Dillon (0-01), Adam Mangan.
