A football championship game in Offaly last Friday night had to be abandoned after the floodlights failed.

Cappincur were leading neighbours Ballycommon by 0-2 to 0-0 in the JFC 'C' semi-final at O'Brien Park - which is situated across the road from O'Connor Park in Tullamore - when the blackout occurred at the start of the second quarter. Efforts to get the floodlights working again failed and the game had to be abandoned.

Meanwhile, former Faithful and Ireland hero Ciaran McManus will return from his UK base to line out for Tubber in their Offaly SFC 'B' semi-final against Durrow at O'Connor Park this afternoon. The 40-year-old's return is a boost for Tubber, who can also call on the services of current county star Bernard Allen.
