DIV 6 FOOTBALL LEAGUE FINAL

Raheen Junior Footballers missed out on a County Title as they lost out to Edenderry in the Div 6 League Final last Thursday evening in Gracefield on a scoreline of 3-08 to 0-07. Edenderry took the early advantage as they opened up a lead of 4 points to 1 midway through the half but Raheen steadied the ship and came back with 3 points to Edenderry's 2 but Raheen were hit with a sucker punch just on the stroke of half time as a quick break upfield saw Edenderry get in to score the first goal to lead at the break 1-06 to 0-04. Raheen did get the first score of the second half a pointed free but Edenderry responded with 2 more points before sealing it on 12 mins with their second goal from penalty for a push in the back. Raheen got another point back before Edenderry wrapped it up in stoppage time with their third goal.

Na Fianna

U16 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Na Fianna U16 Footballers were beaten by Ferbane / Belmont in the penultimate round of the Championship last Monday week in Ferbane on a scoreline of 3-07 to 0-09. F/B opened the scoring and had 1-04 on the board when Brian Keogh got Na Fianna off the mark in the 22 min. F/B got their second goal within a minute from a penalty to put themselves clear. Both sides added a point apiece before the break so at halftime F/B led 2-05 to 0-02. Na Fianna needed a good start to the second half and while they did claw back 3 points they were undone midway through the half as F/B struck for 1-01. Na Fianna's chance of a comeback may have been gone they did not give up and in the final 10 mins they added 4 points to F/B's 1 to make the scoreboard a bit more respectable. Na Fianna still have a chance to qualify for the Semi Finals if they can get a win their final round against Ballycumber / Tubber.
