U16 Hurling

Tullamore welcomed Shinrone to O'Brien Park on Mon 18 July for round 4 of the U-16 Hurling Championship. After defeat in rd 3, Tullamore needed a strong performance to regain the momentum in the championship and they duly obliged. The early exchanges were fairly even with Shinrone the first to score but after 15mins the sides were level with points from Pauric Martin, Cormac Izucukwu and Matthew Keegan. Tullamore then dominated most of the play for the remainder of the first half with some impressive team play an scored 2 good points from Kevin Kelleher and Samuel Wright either side of a Tullamore missed penalty and a goal from C Izucukwu to leave the half time score 1:05 to 0:04. Tullamore extended their lead to 6pts after 2 K Kelleher points before Shinrone were given a lifeline of a penalty but fortunately(for Tullamore) the Shinrone sharp-shooter drove his shot wide. With Shinrone heads dropped, Tullamore again had the upper hand scored 3 unanswered points from Diarmuid Egan, M Keegan and C Izucukwu. The visitors were again denied a goal after a superb save from Tullamore net-minder Ciaran O'Sullivan. Tullamore continued to press forward and notched a further 2 points from M Keegan and K Kelleher. As the home side seemed to relax, Shinrone hit back with 1:01 but goals from the determined K Kelleher and D Egan rounded off a good evening for Tullamore. With Shinrone not playing to their usual standard the Tullamore Whites ran out winners by 3:12 to 1:05. While this was a good team display, special mention must go to P Martin, C O'Sullivan, M Keegan and K Kelleher. U14 Hurling

Tullamore U14 Hurlers took a giant step towards the knock out phase of this year's A Championship with a hard-fought victory over hosts Coolderry on Friday last 22nd of July. This was The Blues' third victory out of four games and follows earlier successes against St.Rynagh's and Na Fianna.
On Friday last,Tullamore were made to fight all the way by a very determined Coolderry who were clinging on a knife-edge to their own chances of progressing in this year's Championship. The sides were locked on 1-4 apiece at the break with Coolderry snatching 1-1 to level matters just before Half Time.Tullamore were not firing on all cylinders at this point and we're thankful for a super goal from Diarmuid Egan and some clinical free taking from Luke Egan.
In the second period Tullamore opened up and produced some lovely patches of inter-play up and down the field.Certainly the switching of Corey White from Full Back to Centre Forward had a major bearing on the outcome as he proceeded to dominate affairs and add much needed strength up front.Young White scored two fantastic points himself as well as creating many opportunities for those around him.By the end of the third quarter The Blues had raced into a four point lead.A goal from Tristan Walsh extended that to seven as the game headed into the final ten minutes. Tullamore were rampant at this stage and were on top in every corner of the pitch. Ciarán O'Sullivan applied the final killer blows with three superb scores from play to eventually finish off the stubborn home team resistance.
Tullamore out scored the opposition by 1-7 to 0-1 in the second half to win the game on a scoreline of 2-11 to 1-5.On an evening where all players produced a magnificent second half display, special mention must go out to U12 player Adam Kelly at corner back who was tremendous throughout.
Tullamore are out next in a top of the table clash with Birr on Thursday 28th in St.Brendan's Park throw in 7:30pm.All support appreciated.
