Conor Cooney is free to take his place in Galway's starting XV for Sunday's Leinster SHC final against Kilkenny.

The Galway forward had registered 1-3 in the semi-final victory over Offaly before being shown a straight red card by referee Colm Lyons for an innocuous swing of the hurl in the 60th minute.

A one-match ban would have ruled Cooney out of this weekend's provincial final but the Tribesmen have successfully appealed the red card and had it rescinded. Galway took the case to the Central Hearings Committee and presented video evidence, which resulted in the offence being downgraded to a yellow card.

Offaly also had captain Colin Egan sent off 27 minutes into the semi-final tilt with Galway but their appeal has fallen on deaf ears and Egan will miss Saturday's crunch SHC Qualifier against Wexford as a consequence.
