Galway and Offaly are expected to appeal the red cards issued to Conor Cooney and Colin Egan during yesterday's Leinster SHC semi-final.

Both were considered to be harsh, with Offaly captain Egan seeing red for clattering into Fergal Moore seven minutes before half-time, and Cooney also received his marching orders for an off-the-ball incident 10 minutes from the end.

Offaly manager Eamonn Kelly was left to rue Egan's early dismissal, saying in the Irish Examiner: "I can say it looks harsh from where I was. I'll have to take a look at it afterwards. Having 14 men against a quality side like that is always going to be difficult.

"There was nothing rash in it. It wasn't a dirty game. I know referees try to bring a bit of order because there were a few hardy belts before that. He was a huge loss to us."

Apart from Cooney, Galway are also sweating on the availability of David Burke for the Leinster final against Kilkenny on July 3 after he suffered what looked like a serious arm injury in the dying moments.
