Raheen Senior Footballers got their second win in a row in the League against St Brigids in Rd 3 last Friday evening in Geashill again by just the minimum margin on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-12. The sides were level at the break 1-06 each with the Raheen goal coming with 5 mins left when Jack Keogh was on hand to punch in Declan Byrne's high shot to net. Raheen then put over 3 frees early in the second half to edge in front but then St Brigids hit over the next 4 points without reply by the 25th min to re-take the lead. Then an attempted clearance by a St Brigids player in the square saw him kick it over his own posts for a Raheen point before St Brigids drew level again with a pointed free in the last min. Then in the 3rd min of injury time Raheen were awarded a free out on the right sideline and Dylan Hyland stepped up to slot over the winner.

U16 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Na Fianna U16 Footballers suffered their first defeat of the year against Edenderry in Rd 3 of the League last Wednesday in Geashill on a scoreline of 2-13 to 3-06. Edenderry made the better start as they opened up a 1-04 to 0-02 lead after 10 mins before Na Fianna turned it round scoring 2-01 by the midpoint of the half, the first goal when Anthony Malone's shot was blocked down on the line by Lee Mulpeter who vollied it into the net, the second when Mickey Buckley's run through saw him pass to Brian Keogh who rounded the keeper and tapped it into the net. The sides added a point apiece in the remainder of the half so at the break Na Fianna led 2-05 to 1-05. Edenderry hit the first 4 points of the second half to go back in front before Na Fianna reclaimed it with a penalty goal converted by Lee Mulpeter followed by a great point from Na Fianna's Gavin Kelly. Edenderry came back with the next 3 points to draw level. Then with 5 mins remaining Edenderry were also awarded a penalty and despite Na Fianna keeper Ryan Kinahan who had made 3 or 4 point blank saves he guessed correctly but the ball crept into the right corner of the net and they added the final point in stoppage time to seal it.
