Rhode manager Pat Daly is looking forward to facing neighbours Edenderry in Sunday's Offaly SFC final.

'The Village', who are seeking a record-equalling 27th Dowling Cup, were victorious when the sides met in last year's decider, but were held to a draw by Peter Brady's Reds in the group stages earlier this year.

"Everybody knows it is a local derby. It is not something people are used too, I know we met last year, but I think the best two teams in the county will be in the final on Sunday. People from Rhode and Edenderry are really looking forward to it," Daly said in the Tullamore Tribune.

"A lot of lads went to school in Edenderry and they would know one another really well. Even the younger lads would hang around together. It is a funny to thing to say, but they do.

"It is a big deal for us and always has been. We are looking forward to it, but so will Edenderry. They will be looking at themselves and not us, and we have to get our performance right too."
