Junior A Hurling Championship Playoff
Clodiagh Gaels prevailed on an impressive scoreline of 4-14 to 2-10 against a good Tullamore team who defeated us a number of weeks previous. The goals came from Alan Plunkett, Clint Horan, Enda Gorman and Jason Dunne.
Junior A Hurling Championship Quarter Final
Clodiagh Gaels went into this game vs Ballinamere confident after an impressive win against Tullamore 5 days previous. In what was an entertaining first half the teams went in level at half time after Clodiagh Gaels played with the wind. The half time score was 1-5 to 0-8 with the goal coming from Brian Gleeson after a good build up from Alan Plunkett. The second half was always going to be an uphill battle against a very good and well drilled Ballinamere team. It proved to be this way as Ballinamere pulled away by scoring an unstoppable shot to the top corner of the net. There was 3 points in it and Ballinamere continued to push on and finally won out by a score of 1-17 to 1-11. Well done to Ballinamere and best of luck in the rest of the championship.
Intermediate Hurling Championship
Well done to our intermediates that beat Crinkill on a score of 3-26 to 1-9 in impressive fashion. The Gaels got a great start with points from Dwayne Dunne and David Buckley. Soon after we got a goal from David Buckley who scored an impressive 1-8 from play. In a game that we were very much dominant, we went in 1-14 to 1-4 up and half without playing very well and after hitting a number of wides. The second half was where Clodiagh Gaels did the damage by scoring 2-12 to Crinkills 0-5. A goal from substitute Liam Langton put the game well beyond doubt and a Dwayne Dunne 21 yard free was riffled to the net which sealed the victory. Well done to the lads who topped the group on score difference and advance to meet Ballyskenagh/Killavilla in the quarter final on Saturday 15th August at 4:30pm in Kilcormac.
Na Fianna
Hard luck to Na Fianna u16 hurlers who got beaten by Ferbane/Belmont on a score of 5-8 to 0-3. Na Fianna now go on to meet Gracefield in the next round of the championship. That game is on Monday 17th August at 7pm and it is a home game which will be played in Killeigh or Killurin.
