NA FIANNA GAA FOOTBALL CLUB

MINOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Na Fianna Minor Footballers got their first win on board to kickstart their Championship campaign as they overcame Kilcormac / Killoughey with ease in Rd 3 last Wednesday evening in Kilcormac on a scoreline of 2-17 to 1-04. The game was played in a torrential downpour throughout making playing conditions difficult. The sides began evenly enough and were level twice inside the first 10 mins. Na Fianna then edged ahead with 2 points to K/K's 1 before getting in the to score their 1st goal on 24 mins when Ian Buckley shot past the keeper to the corner of the net and he followed it up with 2 more points before the end of the half to give Na Fianna a lead of 1-06 to 0-03 at the break. Na Fianna added a point just after the restart before K/K got back into it with their goal on 2 mins. Thereafter though there was only 1 team in it as Na Fianna stormed clear adding 9 points to K/K's 1 before sealing it with their 2nd goal on 23 mins when Cathal Curran's low shot was caught by Brian Keogh inside the square and he rounded the keeper before planting his shot in the net. John Paul Casey completed the scoring with the final point for Na Fianna. Unfortunately the win was not enough to keep Na Fianna in the A Championship due to Ferbane's win against Ballycumber / Tubber on the same night and Na Fianna will now compete in the B Championship.
