Limerick's Ciaran Carey

Two former Limerick hurlers have been linked to the vacant Offaly hurling manager's job.

The Faithful County Board have begun the process of finding a new manager following Brian Whelehan's decision to step down.

And already names are being bandied about as former Limerick stars Ciaran Carey and Joe Quaid are both believed to be in the frame.

Quaid has made a name for himself in camogie circles having guided the Shannonsiders to All-Ireland intermediate glory.

Carey has inter-county experience having managed his native county at under-21 level in 2008 and last year, while he is the current manager of his home club Patrickswell.

Meanwhile, another name being mentioned is that of former Kerry hurling manager Eamonn Kelly. The Tipperary native stepped down from his position at the end of the Kingdom's campaign this year.
