History was made in the Offaly SHC on Friday night when Kilcormac/Killoughey extended their unbeaten run to an incredible 27 games.
The double Ks held off a late Shinrone rally at O'Connor Park to chalk up their 25th county championship victory on the trot. Daniel Currams' 32nd minute goal proved crucial as the four-in-a-row chasing kingpins prevailed on a 1-13 to 1-11 scoreline. They had already beaten both Brosna Gaels and Birr in this year's championship.
Also destined for the knockout stages are Coolderry. Former county man Damien Murray hit 1-7 in a 2-19 to 1-16 victory over Kinnitty last night. Also last night, James Houlihan, Shane Kelly and Shane Dooley found the net for Tullamore in a facile 3-23 to 0-9 win over neighbours Shamrocks.
On Friday night, Seir Kieran made it three wins from three when they edged out Ballinamere 1-20 to 0-19, while St. Rynagh's saw off neighbours Belmont by 1-9 to 1-5.
The action continues today when Birr take on Brosna Gaels in Kilcormac.
After tonight's win, K/K are now unbeaten for a record 27 games in a row in the Offaly championship, winning the last 25 in a row.
