Offaly hurling manager Brian Whelahan has stepped down after two years in charge of the Faithful.

Rated as one of the greatest half backs in the history of the game Whelahan, popularly known as Sid, hinted after Offaly's championship exit to Clare that he would stay on in the hot seat for another season.

2015 was a bad year for the once proud hurlers of Offaly. Besides that hammering at the hands of the Banner, neighbours Laois recorded their first championship win over Offaly in over 40 years.
