Looking back on their campaign, Offaly manager Pat Flanagan stresses that there were both positives and negatives to take from their year.

The Offaly footballers' season came to an end last Saturday when after a brave showing against Kildare, they lost narrowly to the Lilywhites.

Promotion and winning the Division Four title at Croke Park were the highlights for Flanagan, but he stressed to the Midland Tribune that losing at home twice hurt greatly.

"I said to the boys, this is not a one year wonder. We are here to try and plan for the future. If we can develop as much as we did in the last six months, hopefully we will hit the ground running in Division three next year," said Flanagan.

"Getting out of Division Four was the main aim but having played so well up in Croke Park, it was so disappointing to lose to Longford here. I hate losing at home and we have done that twice now and it is difficult to take."
