Pat Flanagan expressed relief after Offaly secured their first championship victory in four years at Waterford's expense.

The Allianz League Division 4 champions put their late Leinster SFC first round collapse against Longford behind them to win by 13 points at Fraher Field on Saturday and set up a meeting with the losers of next Sunday's Leinster SFC semi-final between Dublin and Kildare in the second round of the All-Ireland qualifiers.

"It is all about rebuilding this team confidence-wise, rebuilding their morale, strength and physicality. The whole thing has to be rebuilt," the Faithful boss is quoted in the Irish Examiner.

"We are getting there slowly. We saw when we do play to our potential like we did in the league final at Croke Park what we are capable of.

"The big thing with this team was getting a championship win. The players are there, the football ability is there. It is just about getting over that mental gap and mental strain, today will be a help in that regard."
