"Could Brian Gavin be in any worse position?"

Sunday Game pundit Donal Óg Cusack let rip at referee Brian Gavin's positioning as Dublin's two penalties were taken in Saturday's Leinster SHC replay in Tullamore.

The Offaly whistler awarded two penalties to Ger Cunningham's side during the first-half of their defeat to Galway.

David Treacy blazed the first one wide while, for the second, the Tribesmens' goalie Colm Callanan produced a top class save to deny substitute Paul Ryan.

But it was the referee's positioning as the penalties were being struck which drew the ire of Cusack.

"Could Brian Gavin be in any worse position?

"He's in the way of the goalkeeper if it comes out and he's in the way of the attackers if they come in.

"If we got someone who never saw the game in their lives and asked them 'what's the worst place you could stand as a referee?' and I guarantee you it wouldn't be very far away from there."
