Offaly's Ciaran McManus

Ciaran McManus' retirement from football has proven to be short-lived.

The former Offaly and Ireland International Rules star announced his retirement in the wake of Tubber's relegation from the Offaly senior football ranks last autumn, but he was back in action for his club as they defeated Kilcormac/Killoughey in the first round of the new Offaly senior football 'B' championship last night.

The 39-year-old marked his 'comeback' with a goal from a penalty midway through the second half as the Westmeath-border outfit cruised to a 3-16 to 0-6 victory. Bernard Allen and Shane Kinahan were Tubber's other goal-scorers.
