Ex-Offaly star Murphy is new Tipp team doctor

Offaly's Brendan Murphy

Former Offaly star Brendan Murphy has been appointed doctor to the Tipperary senior hurling team.

The 34-year-old, who retired from inter-county hurling at the end of 2012 after a 13-year career, takes over from Kevin Delargy. He is working as a GP in Roscrea, which is only a stone's throw from his home club of Ballyskenagh.

Murphy, who played in the 2000 All-Ireland final against Kilkenny, was actually on medical duty for the Offaly hurlers when they played Tipp in last year's All-Ireland qualifier at O'Moore Park.
